It’s the yearly Halloween party where I made too much food! I was dressed as Rose Quartz and some friends also came in costume. I had a cozy little party of 10 friends hanging out and enjoying snacks and desserts. Always so nice to see everyone.

Fun Highlights!

  • I got to try out for an open audition at a voice acting opportunity! I super didn’t care for any of the character types in the audition, though, so I auditioned as a robot and wasn’t surprised at all that I didn’t get a callback 😀
  • Jeaux, dressed as a conspiracy theorist (Dib from Invader Zim), kept pointing at me and yelling SHE’S AN ALIEN! AN ALIEN!!!
  • Ronaldo from Steven Universe is also a conspiracy theorist and we saw someone cosplaying him. Had to take a photo with Jeaux.
  • We had a great lunch at Jackson’s. I had avocado sushi.
  • I got to play some music for people and that was super fun.
  • Someone handing out Halloween Horror Nights fliers in a line was startled by my costume’s third eye!
  • Lots of people recognized both our costumes!

Metrocon 2025 – Friday

Friday at Metrocon! I decided to go on a whim (though I had PLANNED to go on Saturday and already had a ticket). I went because there was a panel I wanted to see about voice acting, which I have gotten into in the past six months. I just wore a cute Steven Universe–inspired outfit and brought my uke.

Fun moments to note:

  • I hung out with Steven Universe nerds a couple times to play music and enjoy what they were blasting on the boom box.

  • I went to Bang Zoom’s “how to audition” panel for voice acting and took a bunch of notes. Very informative!

  • A nice lady that I bought food from at the convention asked me where I got my “little guitar” and liked my dress. She asked to take my photo.

  • Someone saw my ukulele, told me they remembered me being dressed as Steven Universe last year, and said they had wanted to come to this con this year dressed as Steven because of me but couldn’t find the shirt. They had brought their ukulele too.

  • One person complimented my Steveny outfit and said she would be dressed as Pearl and coming with a Rose Quartz tomorrow. I will definitely look for them.

  • My Lyft driver on the way home requested a song on the ukulele and she and I ended up singing car karaoke the whole way home. She told me I had a chill vibe and that the singing had been therapeutic.

I found out a company named Ground UP makes kids’ shoes with certain cartoon characters on them, and they had a Steven Universe design but I could only find them for toddlers. Imagine my surprise when I found one labeled for “big girls” being sold on the secondary market! Very excited that I got them and they fit.

I had my usual Halloween party again! This time I dressed as baby Garnet with her cotton candy outfit! Lots of friends came and ate all my homemade food. Fun times!
